Niektórzy mogą pamiętać, jak kiedyś kupiłem sobie płytę Capsuli. Niestety okazało się, że w pośpiechu wziąłem płytę nie tego zespołu, który mnie interesował, a innego o takiej samej nazwie. W pierwszej chwili nieco ostygłem, ponieważ było sporo innych rzeczy do posłuchania, ale o zespole nie zapomniałem. Zresztą chyba nic w tym dziwnego, skoro z takim entuzjazmem ruszyłem na zakupy, że się pogubiłem. Toteż wiedziałem, że prędzej czy później trio z Buenos Aires pojawi się na Ulicy Fioletowej. Dzisiaj nareszcie są.

“In the Land of Silver Souls” to chyba ostatni album wydany dotychczas w ich - całkiem już pokaźnej - dyskografii. Zespół co prawda pochodzi z Argentyny, ale już jakiś czas temu przeniósł się do Hiszpanii, a też - szczerze mówiąc - w muzyce za wielu odniesień do ojczyzny nie słychać. Jak zatem napisałem kiedyś - mamy tutaj do czynienia z porządnym rockowym graniem w klimatach garage/psychedelic. Płyta ukazała się w 2011 roku, ale włączenie jej wydaje się raczej działać jak wehikuł czasu, przenoszący w przeszłość znacznie bardziej odległą. Zdecydowanie odczuć tutaj można nastrój glam rocka, psychodelii. Błyszczących koszul, eksperymentów narkotycznych oraz pasji tworzenia, grania. Muzyka jest hipnotyzująca, żywa. Fani The Velvet Underground powinni być zadowoleni, że włączyli tę płytę. Podobnie wyznawcy Iggy’ego Popa. Ale znaleźć tutaj można także utwory, które są wyraźnie inspirowane klasycznymi dokonaniami rockabilly, jak “The King of the Rain”. Przynajmniej ja zawsze mam przy nim takie skojarzenia: ten bas, ten rytm. Na pewno ciężko byłoby się dziwić podobnym inspiracjom, gdy mowa o płycie rockowej. Czasami utwory są wolniejsze, jak “Dreaming in Black and Blue”. Może się wydawać, że da chwilę oddechu za sprawą swojego spokojnego tempa, ale szybko okazuje się, że to brzmienie nie wypuszcza słuchacza łatwo ze swojego uścisku. Piosenki są tutaj stosunkowo krótkie: prawie wszystkie trwają niewiele poniżej lub powyżej trzech minut. Całkowicie wyjątkowy jest “Communication” - trwa ponad 5 minut i całe szczęście, ponieważ nie ma na tym albumie lepszego numeru. Nie ma w nim niczego odkrywczego, żadnych nowatorskich rozwiązań. Ale przecież nie o to chodzi. Jest niesamowity nastrój.

Capsula to jedynie trzy osoby, ale brzmienie wydaje się być bardziej rozbudowane. Ciekaw jestem czy równie znakomicie radzą sobie na koncertach. Mam nadzieję, że kiedyś się przekonam. Też powinniście.

Some of you might remember, how I bought an album by Capusla. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a CD not by the artist I thought to be, but some other, going by the same moniker. At first it felt like sort of cold shower and there were many other albums to listen to, but... I didn’t forget about the band. Probably that’s no surprise, since I was so excited about them when I rushed to shop, that I got lost. Point is: I knew that sooner or later trio from Buenos Aires would visit Violet Street. And today they’re finally here.

‘In the Land of Silver Souls’ is the last album in their - pretty large - discography, if I’m right. The band comes from Argentina, however they moved to Spain some time ago, but to be honest, you really can’t catch too many references to their homeland. As I have written some time ago: we have here some solid rock music with garage/psychedelic mood. The CD got out in 2011, but pushing ‘play’, might feel like entering time machine that gets you into more distant past. Definitely you can taste here glam rock, psychedelic rock. Glimmering shirts, drugs experiments and the passion for creation,for playing music. And the music is hypnotizing, full of life. Fans of The Velvet Underground should be satisfied, that they decided to listen to this record. Just like Iggy Pop’s followers. But you can also find here songs, that are easy to identify as inspired by classic rockabilly, like ‘The King of the Rain’. At least that’s the feeling I get: this bass, this rhythm. Surely those inspirations wouldn’t be something strange or awkward, since it’s a rock album that we’re discussing here. Some songs are slower, like ‘Dreaming in Black and Blue’. It might make you think, that it’s a moment to relax and catch breath, because of the slower pace. And then you find out, pretty fast, that this music doesn’t loosen it’s grip that easily. Compositions are pretty short: almost all of them last around three minutes: sometimes a little bit more, sometimes a little bit less. Entirely outstanding is ‘Communication’, that goes for over 5 minutes. And that’s lucky deal for listeners, because there is no better song on this album. This isn’t a song to shape new ways for music: there’s nothing very exploratory here, no breath-taking innovative arrangements. But that’s not important. This song has the most important thing: amazing mood. Just listen to it.

There are only three musicians in Capsula, but the sound seems to be much more complex. I only wonder if they are just as good when they play live. I hope to find out some day. You should too.
