Russian Red w ubiegłym roku wydała swoją drugą płytę, "Fuerteventura". Dzisiaj jednak będzie o pierwszym albumie, "I Love Your Glasses" z 2008 roku. Lourdes Hernández - tak bowiem naprawdę nazywa się artystka, której pseudonim pochodzi od koloru szminki, a nie jakichkolwiek związków z Rosją - rozpoczynając karierę miała zaledwie 14-15 lat. A jednak materiał na płycie w żaden sposób nie może być uważany za niedojrzały. Budzi to tym większe uznanie, że Russian Red jest jedyną autorką tekstów i muzyki...
Twórczość Panny Hernández to pop przemieszany z folkiem, z dorzuconą czasem odrobiną rocka. Efekt jest znakomity. I do tego wokal - delikatny, dziewczęcy. Czasem wręcz eteryczny. Powiem szczerze: od pierwszych dźwięków "Cigarettes" byłem całkowicie stracony. Wokalistka śpiewająca "He was sitting by the swimming pool/But he was scared, 'cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance/Getting older's not been on my plans" brzmi - mimo barwy głosu - jak dorosła kobieta. Mogę śmiało nazwać polskie gwiazdy w wieku średnim, które śpiewają teksty znacznie mniej dojrzałe. Generalnie jest rzewnie i nastrojowo, czego przykładem może być "No Past Land" z jego spokojną melodią i słowami o miłości. Nie jest jednak nigdy nieciekawie, nie ma się wrażenia grania wszystkiego na jeden ton. "Take Me Home" nosi w sobie echa, które przywodzą na myśl brzmienia rodem z Haiti. I do tego ten skandowany refren... Bywa bardziej depresyjnie - od razu przychodzi na myśl "Hold It Inside" ze swoją powagą. Zawsze jest interesująco. Cały album zamyka cover "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - jedyny, którego autorką nie jest Russian Red. Słynnej piosence zupełnie narzuciła swój charakter i ze skocznego utworu o imprezowaniu stworzyła rozrzewnioną balladę o dorastaniu.
Podsumowując: koniecznie trzeba się z tą płytą zapoznać. Na drugi album czekałem bardzo niecierpliwie. Ale o tym kiedy indziej.

Last year Russian Red released her second album, 'Fuertevetura'. Today, however, there'll be note about her first record, 'I Love Yout Glasses' which saw daylight in 2008. Lourdes Hernández - that's artists name, whose moniker comes from colour of lipstick, not from any connections to Russia - was around 14 or 15 when she begun her career. However material that you'll find here can't be seen as immature. It deserves recognition even more, when you realize that Russian Red is the sole author of lyrics and music...
Miss Hernández' creativity finds its way through pop mixed with folk, with a little bit of rock here and there. The effect is amazing. And the vocal - delicate, girlish. Sometimes simply ethereal. I'll be honest: I was totally lost from the first sounds of 'Cigarettes'. Vocalist singing 'He was sitting by the swimming pool/But he was scared, 'cause it wasn't his time, it wasn't his chance/Getting older's not been on my plans' sounds like an adult woman. I could easily name polish middle-aged so-called stars, who sing lyrics that are much less mature. Generally the mood is melancholic, a perfect example may be 'No Past Land' with calm melody and worda about love. However it never gets dull in here, there's no feeling that entire album sounds the same. 'Take Me Home' carries some echoes of sound that brings to you thoughts of Haiti. And this chanted refrain... Sometimes it gets more depressive - 'Hold It Inside' might be a good example here with its seriousness. But it's always interesting. Whole album is closed by cover of 'Girls Just Wanna have Fun' - the only song here that Russian Red didn't write by herself. Famous song has entirely given up to Hernández' interpretation and it transformed from lively prty anthem into emotional ballad about gorwing up.
Well, to summarise: this album is must. I've waited for the second one very impatiently.But that's a whole different story.
